Samuels takes us back to when Kaci was alive and gives us her final 22 days. 22 days in which they get to say goodbye, and it's not enough time. But it never really is in the end and that's what makes this ride so emotionally charged.
Sal and Kaci's relationship has never been easy, but when you love someone, it doesn't matter. Because as Samuels writes "..love is love...the truth is love has a mind of its own." I have to imagine loving Kaci would be impossibly difficult and I think Sal is one of a small handful that can truly love her.
For those who know the story of Kaci and Sal, it doesn't end on an HEA, but it doesn't need to, because you go into the book knowing it's about the journey being told, and Samuels always writes a beautiful journey.
