A facility that experiments on children but is government sanctioned is everybody's worst nightmare come true. In Liquid Death, we met Kandi and while she doesn't speak, we hear volumes from her. We learn in increments the amount of power she wields. She has undergone various forms of torture at the hands of her father and his associates for as long as she can remember.
Then we meet Juan, who is stronger than anyone can imagine. He has a good heart, and he wants to be Kandi's friend. He wants more out of life than being an experiment and he wants to help Kandi in the meantime.
This truly was a hard to put down book. It was intriguing and well thought out. Mitzi doesn't reveal the title's reasoning until roughly 2/3rds of the book, but you get the sense of what it means in reading, it's a great build up. I had a lot of fun reading this and I can't wait to start the next book, Dawning Life.
