Everything We Are, Megan Walker and Janci Patterson

Felix has finally chosen to get clean, and because it was his decision this time, he wants to work as hard as he can to stay sober so he can start his life right. When busking one day, he catches the eye of Jenna, a feisty and famous singer part of a famous musical duo, who thinks he has what it takes to play cello for the band. Felix can't help but be drawn to her, but she's off-limits because she's romantically involved with Alec. But what if it's all for show and she really is as interested in him as he is her? Having to hide a relationship would be hard, made even harder by the fact Felix probably shouldn't even be in a relationship in his first year of recovery.

I've been reading this series from the beginning and I have to say that Felix is probably my most favorite character now and I'm so glad that he was given his own book. He wears his heart on his sleeve, he's not afraid to speak what's on his mind, and he's a fighter. In Everything We Are he is given a chance to redeem himself and to make his life better. Felix is unconventional in his treatment because he's defying the formula that has been known to work in recovery, and I think that each person is different, and we see that with Felix.

It's a bit of an insta-love situation between the two of them, but it works because they fall fast and they fall hard. But because they have to do it without the public knowing, it makes it really hard for them. The chemistry between the two of them is intense, and I adore them together. Their shared backgrounds make it easier for them to be able to support one another, and I think that's key to helping Felix stay on this road he's started. This was such a fun read, with a great combination of angst, humor, and romance.
